130g All Purpose Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
60 ml melted Ghee
40 ml water Approx.
Oil for deep frying
For Sugar Syrup:
1/4 kg sugar
40 ml water Approx. (as needed)
1 tsp lemon juice & some saffron
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
In a large bowl, add flour, baking soda, baking powder and ghee and mix.
Once it is mixed, add water little by little and mix well to a soft dough ( Don't knead the dough too hard).
Allow this dough to rest for 15 mins while you make the sugar syrup.
Add sugar and water to a pan and bring it to a boil.
Add lemon and saffron, then add in cardamom powder.
Cook till it reaches one string consistency or tacky. Keep the syrup warm.
Roll up the dough into a tube form and cut it into the desired size.
Make the dough into balls and flatten it, make a dent in the centre. (Don't correct any cracks).
Heat oil and fry them until it turns golden brown. (On a medium to low heat).
Now drain it and add it to the warm sugar syrup.
Let it soak for 3 to 4 minutes.
Drain it and garnish it with pistachio or almond.
