Steamed Egg Pudding | Caramel Bread Pudding

For caramel sauce:

  • Sugar - 4 tbsp

  • Water - 1 tbsp

For bread pudding:

  • Water – 1 cup

  • Condensed milk – 1/2 cup

  • Bread – 3 (white or brown)

  • Eggs – 2

  • Vanilla extract – 1 tbsp

  • 4 cups of water for steam cooking  the pudding


  1. In a saucepan, melt the sugar.

  2. Cook on medium heat till sugar dissolves, then add water.

  3. Boil until the sugar turns into a deep golden or amber colour.

  4. Pour caramel sauce in a small cups and coat, keep that aside.

  5. Blend in the bread, 1 cup water, condensed milk, eggs, and vanilla.

  6. Then fill the pudding mixture into cups and keep that ready.

  7. (For individual servings use small cups and for 1 single piece of pudding use a large bowl).

  8. In a saucepan, add 4 cups of water and place the metal colander.

  9. Place the cups in the colander and cover the lid.

  10. Steam for about 15 - 20 minutes. (Test with a toothpick).
