Karachi Halwa | Bombay Karachi Halwa | Cornstarch Karachi Halwa


For sugar syrup:

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 1/2 cup sugar

For halwa:

  • 100g cornstarch

  • 1 cup water

  • 3 tbsp ghee|clarified butter

  • Any food color (1 tsp water + color)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp chopped pistachios

  • 2tbsp chopped almonds


  1. In a bowl mix cornflour and water keep that aside.

  2. Add water & sugar to a pan dissolve the sugar over low heat.

  3. Increase the heat and boil.

  4. Boil until the sugar dissolves.

  5. Add cornstarch to the sugar syrup & stir it continuously over low-medium heat.

  6. Add ghee when the mixture is thick transparent.

  7. Cook until the ghee disappears.

  8. Now add lime juice, food color, and mix well. 

  9. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat, stir continuously.

  10. Add chopped pistachios and almonds, mix.

  11. Transfer it to a square-shaped container.

  12. Spread that evenly with a spatula. Let it sit for 2 hours.

  13. After 2 hours remove it out of the container (upside down).

  14. Cut it into a small square shape.
