1 large granny smith apple, peeled, cored and chopped
4 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1tsp vanilla extract
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
Egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp milk lightly beaten)
Peel and chop the apple into small chunks.
In a bowl, add in the apple, sugar, cinnamon powder and vanilla extract. Mix well and keep that aside. (Use immediately after mixing)
Unfold the pastry sheet on the work surface.
Cut the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle & Spoon the apple mixture down the centre of the pastry, leaving 1 inch at the top and the bottom.
Cut 1-inch strips apart down the sides of the pastry.
Fold the top and bottom strips over the mixture.
Criss-cross the strips & seal and transfer on to the baking tray.
Brush the pastry with the egg wash.
Bake at 200°C for 15-18 mins or until the pastry is golden brown.
