Homemade Marinara Sauce

1/4 cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large white or yellow onion, chopped
3 cups canned diced tomatoes
4 fresh basil leaves
Salt, to taste
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium.
Add garlic and sauté for a minute.
Next, add onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until the onion is tender but not browned.
Add tomatoes and mix; add in basil, salt, and oregano.
Mix and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on medium-high heat.
After 5 minutes, reduce the heat.
Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until tomatoes have thickened.
