Homemade Marinara Sauce

Servings - 2


  • 1/4 cup olive oil 

  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped 

  • 1 large white or yellow onion, chopped 

  • 3 cups canned diced tomatoes  

  • 4 fresh basil leaves 

  • Salt, to taste 

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano


  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium.  

  2. Add garlic and sauté for a minute. 

  3. Next, add onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until the onion is tender but not browned. 

  4. Add tomatoes and mix; add in basil, salt, and oregano. 

  5. Mix and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on medium-high heat. 

  6. After 5 minutes, reduce the heat. 

  7. Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until tomatoes have thickened.
