Laccha Pyaaz | Indian Onion Salad

Servings - 2 to 3


  • 2-3 large red onions, thinly sliced 

  • Salt and pepper to taste 

  • Lemon juice to taste 

  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala 

  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder (optional) 

  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped  


  1. Combine thinly sliced red onion, salt, black pepper, freshly squeezed lemon juice, chaat masala, and chopped fresh coriander in a large bowl. 

  2. Gently fold the ingredients together, ensuring the onion slices are evenly coated with the spices and seasoning. 

  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for 30 to 60 minutes to let the flavours meld. 

  4. Serve chilled as a refreshing side with tandoori or grilled dishes. Enjoy!
