Vegetarian Braided Puff Pastry | Lunch Box Idea


  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 small onion

  • 1/2 tsp ginger & garlic paste

  • 1 cup potato (boiled, peeled & mashed)

  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper

  • 1/2 cup precooked green peas

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • Chilli powder to taste

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 8-10 mint leaves

  • Some fresh coriander 

  • Puff pastry sheet


  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat.  

  2. Add the onion & sauté, then add ginger & garlic paste, sauté. 

  3. Add the potato, green bell pepper &  precooked green peas. 

  4. Mix. Add salt, garam masala, chilli powder &lemon juice. 

  5. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp, stirring occasionally. 

  6. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool down completely. Unfold the pastry sheet on the work surface.

  7. Cut the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle & Spoon the potato mixture down the pastry centre, leaving 1 inch at the top and the bottom. 

  8. Cut slits 1 inch apart down the sides of the pastry.  

  9. Fold the top 1 inch of pastry down over the mixture.    

  10. Criss-cross the strips & seal.   

  11. Brush the pastry with butter. 

  12. Bake at 200°C for 15-18 mins or until the pastry is golden brown.
