Tomato Pappu Andhra Style | Easy Cooker Dal Recipe
Servings - 3 to 4
Ingredients:
1 cup Red Lentil (Masoor Dal), washed & soaked 30 minutes
1/4 cup Moong Dal, washed & soaked 30 minutes
3 cups water
1 large onion, chopped
2 large tomatoes, chopped
2-3 green chillies, chopped
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon salt (adjust if needed)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Chopped coriander leaves
Tempering:
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
2-3 dry red chillies, broken
A few curry leaves
4 garlic cloves
Method:
In a pressure cooker, add soaked masoor dal, moong dal, water, onion, tomatoes, green chillies, garlic, salt, and turmeric.
Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
Open the cooker once the pressure has released.
Mash or whisk until creamy.
Add lemon juice and chopped coriander.
Mix well. Heat oil in a small pan.
Add mustard seeds, let them splutter.
Add cumin seeds, hing, dry red chillies, curry leaves, and garlic. Sauté until aromatic.
Pour this hot tempering over the dal and mix gently.
Serve hot with rice or roti.
