Sweet & Tangy Bitter Gourd Fry | Karele Ki Sabzi


  • 3 Bitter Gourds 

  • 2 tbsp Oil

  • 1 large onion

  • 1 large tomato 

  • Salt to taste

  • Tamarind extract (Gooseberry size)

  • 1 1/2 tsp curry powder

  • 2 tbsp jaggery powder


  1. Wash the bitter gourds, slit them vertically and remove the seeds. Cut into 1-inch  pieces.

  2. Heat the oil in a pan and Sauté the onion until it turns brown. Add tomato and salt. Sauté.

  3. Add the bitter gourds and cover and cook it on low heat for 8 to 10minutes.

  4. Add tamarind extract, jaggery & curry powder mix well.

  5. Cover and cook it on a low heat for 5 more minutes.

Serve hot with rice & roti.
