1 kg Homemade Chicken Döner Kebab | The Best Doner Kebab At Home!
1 kg boneless chicken breast, thinly sliced
3 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup yoghurt
2 tbsp olive oil + 2 tbsp extra
1 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tbsp cumin powder
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp chilli powder/ cayenne pepper
1 tbsp paprika powder
Salt to taste
(You can also add more spices along with 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1/2 tbsp pepper powder).
Warmed tortilla or Lebanese bread or flatbread or pita bread
Sriracha Sauce or Chilli Sauce
In a large mixing bowl, add lemon juice, yoghurt, olive oil, onion powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, chilli powder, paprika powder, salt and mix well. Add chicken and mix to coat well.
Cover and marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (Over night marination is ideal).
Preheat the oven to 230 C and then line the pan with aluminium foil.
Remove chicken from the fridge and thread the chicken onto metal skewers (Watch the video).
Place the skewers onto the lined baking pan.
Drizzle some olive oil and grill or bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Then turn the chicken, drizzle with olive oil and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until done.
Finally assemble the doner (Watch the video).
Note: While baking, if you feel the chicken is dry, spoon the pan juices over the chicken.
