Semiya Upma Recipe | Vermicelli Breakfast | Vermicelli Upma
Servings - 3
Ingredients:
11/2 cup vermicelli or shavige
3 cup water (Approx.)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp Bengal gram
1/2 tsp urad dal
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 large onion
Some curry leaves
3-4 green chilli
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
1 + 1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup green peas
1/2 cup carrot
1/2 cup beans
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Some chopped coriander leaves
Method:
Heat 1 tbsp oil and roast the vermicelli until it turns light golden brown.
Heat oil & ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds & let it splutter.
Add Bengal gram urad dal and cumin seeds, roast for a few seconds.
Then add curry leaves, chillies, ginger and saute. Add onion and fry for a min.
Add green peas, carrots, beans & salt, mix well.
Cover and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, then add water and bring it to a boil.
Add roasted vermicelli and mix. Cover and cook the vermicelli on low heat.
When it's 90% done give it a quick mix. Simmer few more minutes, add in the lemon juice & coriander.
Mix well & serve immediately.
