Apple Donuts | Apfel-Berliner
Ingredients for dough:
100 ml of lukewarm Milk or Water
30g Butter
250g All-purpose flour
50g Sugar
1 tsp Yeast
1/2 tbsp Vanilla sugar
A pinch of Salt
1 Egg
Ingredients for sweet sauce:
100 ml Water
1 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Butter
30g All-purpose flour
15g Cornstarch
1 to 1 1/2 Egg
2 Apples for filling (Peeled and chopped)
Method:
Melt the butter in lukewarm water and keep that aside.
In a large bowl add in flour, sugar, yeat salt and vanilla sugar. Mix well.
Add water and butter mixture, knead the dough and set that aside for 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the sweet sauce. Boil the water and butter.
Add all-purpose flour, cornstarch stir well without any lumps and cook for a minute. Let that cool down, then add 1 egg and beat until smooth.
After 40 mins fold the dough gently and roll that into a rectangular shape.
Spread the sweet sauce and apples. Roll up the dough into a tube form and cut into the desired size.
Press them lightly, let them rest for 15 minutes.
Fry them on each side about 2 to 3 minutes on medium to low heat.
Sprinkle some powdered sugar.
