Tomato Saaru | Thili Saaru Recipe | Karnataka Style
Ingredients:
1 tbsp Oil
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
5-6 Cloves Garlic
Few Curry Leaves
1 large Onion
3 large Tomato
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
2 tbsp Curry Powder or Rasam Powder
1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
3 cup water (approx.)
Method:
Heat oil in a pot. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Then add cumin seeds and let it splutter, now add garlic and sauté.
Add curry leaves and sauté, then add onion stir and saute for a minute
Then add chopped tomatoes. Stir and saute for a minute or two.
Now add salt, turmeric and curry powder or rasam powder.
Mix well and simmer on a low to medium flame, cover the lid, cook until the tomatoes soften.
Note: At this point, the gravy can be served with any fresh Indian bread i.e. Chapati, Poori, Paratha.
Add water and boil the Rasam/Saru, you can adjust the consistency of Rasam/Saru as per your choice, by adding more or less water.
Serve the Rasam/Saru with rice.
