Oliebollen | Traditional Dutch Doughnuts | Dutch Street Food
150 ml warm milk
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp orange zest (lemon zest or 1 apple cubes or 1 cup pineapple cubes)
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp of salt
Oil for deep frying
Add milk, sugar, and yeast to a large bowl and mix well.
Let it sit for a minute or two.
Then add egg, orange zest, salt, and all-purpose flour.
Mix for 10 minutes or until gluten develops.
Cover and let the dough rise for about an hour.
Then gently fold the dough.
Heat the oil in a pan and drop 1 tbsp of dough.
Fry oliebollen until brown or until it's done.
Remove oliebollen onto kitchen paper.
Sprinkle some icing sugar and serve hot.
