How To Cook Quinoa
Servings - 1
Ingredients:
1/2 cup quinoa
1 cup water or vegetable broth, or 1/2 vegetable stock cube for more flavour
Pinch of salt (optional)
Method:
Rinse the Quinoa: Place quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve. Rinse under cold running water for 30 to 60 seconds.
This removes quinoa’s natural coating (saponin), which can taste bitter.
Add 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt to the pot or 1/2 vegetable stock cube.
Bring the water to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low.
Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 12 to 15 minutes.
Don’t open the lid or stir while it cooks.
Turn off the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
Remove the lid and fluff the quinoa gently with a fork.
