How To Cook Quinoa

Servings - 1



Ingredients: 



  • 1/2 cup quinoa  

  • 1 cup water or vegetable broth, or 1/2 vegetable stock cube for more flavour 

  • Pinch of salt (optional)  



Method: 



  1. Rinse the Quinoa: Place quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve. Rinse under cold running water for 30 to 60 seconds. 

  2. This removes quinoa’s natural coating (saponin), which can taste bitter. 

  3. Add 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt to the pot or 1/2 vegetable stock cube. 

  4. Bring the water to a boil. 

  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. 

  6. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 12 to 15 minutes. 

  7. Don’t open the lid or stir while it cooks. 

  8. Turn off the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. 

  9. Remove the lid and fluff the quinoa gently with a fork.
