The most satisfying Mango Rice Recipe ever! | Mango Chitranna Recipe | Mavinakayi Chitranna
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp chana dal
1/2 tbsp urad dal
4 tbsp peanuts
1/4 tsp hing / asafoetida
Few curry leaves
5 green chillies, slit
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 cup raw mango, grated
2 cups cooked rice
3 tbsp fresh coconut, grated
3 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
In a large pan heat oil.
Add in the mustard seed and let them splutter, then add chana dal, urad dal and allow to turn golden brown.
Add in the peanuts and roasted them until crisp.
Once the peanuts are crispy add in the curry leaves, chillies, thing and sauté for a minute.
Now add turmeric powder and mix, and also add in mango.
Sauté for a minute, add salt and mix well.
Cover and cook the mango on low heat for 2 - 3 minutes or until the mango shrinks.
Now add in the cooked rice and mix gently without breaking rice grains.
Cover and simmer the rice for 1 - 2 minutes.
Add in the coconut and coriander leaves. mix well.
Serve mango rice hot.
