Cluster Beans Curry | Gorikayi Gojju Recipe | Gorikayi Palya for Rice & Chapathi


  • 300 g cluster beans | guvar | gorikayi 

  • 2 tablespoon oil 

  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 

  • Few curry leaves 

  • 1 large onion 

  • 2 tomatoes 

  • Salt to taste 

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 

  • 2 tablespoon curry powder or sambar powder 

  • 1/2 chilli powder (optional) 

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves 

  • 1 cup water


  1. Wash, discard the ends and cut the cluster beans. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let them splutter. 

  2. Now add curry leaves, saute, then add in chopped onions and cook for a minute. 

  3. Add in chopped tomatoes and cook for a minute or until tomatoes are soft. 

  4. Next, add salt, turmeric powder, curry powder, chilli powder, mix well and cook for a minute. 

  5. Add in cluster beans and mix well; add water. Mix well, cover and cook until cluster beans are soft. 

  6. Remove the lid and stir, add coriander leaves and stir well. 

  7. Cover and cook for a minute. Server hot with rice or chapathi.
